Wooden Christmas Kitchen Decoration

The schools have broken up, and my preparations are in full swing, but I wanted to step away from making things for everyone else for a few hours and make something just for me, to make me feel festive whilst I am baking all my Christmas goods.

As I had some spare wooden discs left over from when I made some personalised Christmas signs for my parents I decided to make myself a little decorative sign for the kitchen.

I made this in the same way as the previous signs by designing them in my digital graphics software and cutting them from stencil vinyl on my Cricut. Most of the design is stencilled on, with some small details added by hand.

Most of the sign is painted with dark brown acrylic paint, over some clear acrylic gesso which I used both to seal the stencilled areas and provide a bit of texture. I wanted to give it the feel of a wood burned sign, and to keep the text as clear as possible.

I intended to do a lot of baking today, but an unexpected job came up and my plans changed, so instead I am going to hang this sign this evening and look forwards to spending a bit of time over the next few days in my Christmas Kitchen.
