Thank you to every person that donated even a single pound, dollar, more or less to the fundraising effort for Refuge. I was absolutely blown away.
There have been a few times this past week that I have found various things getting me down. Work has been difficult and testing, and I have had a few restless nights, but through times when I have felt down or that I am just not finding reward in my day, I have remembered how lucky I am and looking on the JustGiving page can’t help but feel grateful and quite emotional at the kindness an care of people.
The money will go towards helping women who need care and a new beginning. Every donation, no matter the size, is equally appreciated, but I do want to say a few special thank yous. To the BEEXers – you are the friends I am proudest of. Proud because you are all ace and I am lucky. To Jen, who along with husband Jim have done so much themselves to support Refuge these last few years, and who sent me yarn and needles when I was in the Refuge myself so I could knit again, and also to a person’s who’s name I shall not call out but to call her ‘V’, who sent me the most amazing things before I left. She gave me the gift of reading and of fun. I took only a small holdall when I left, but of the few possessions I had, I had a world of books at my fingertips. I read the entire works of Sherlock Holmes whilst I lived in the refuge due to your gift, and I am so grateful for that escape.
I lost touch with a number of people and friends who read my old blog when I lost the old blog, when I saw a couple of names pop up on the donations list this last week, my eyes did not stay dry.
Don’t forget to knit yourself a nice warm cosy for your cuppa, or make a few and sell them for charity, or do something that just makes you feel good.
